CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS.

Messrs Robert Wilkin and Co. report :

At the Addington Yards on Wednesday 12,103 sheep, 379 head of cattle, and 194 pigs were brought forward. In fat sheep the supply greatly exceeded trade requirements, and as the demand for freezers was also well supplied by outside contracts, we were not surprised to find a decided drop in the values for sheep. Breeding ewes are still in demand, and the different descriptions meet with ready sale at fair values, according to age and condition, while lamb 3 show a decline in prices during the last month. Cattle were in full snpply, a large proportion of which were moved off by private sale. Those brought under the hammer fully maintained last week's values. Store cattle are dull of sale. Pigs still meet with keen competition, especially for stubbling, for which ciass there is largo demand, in consequence of the unfavorable weather having damaged so much grain. We placed on behalf of our clients a line of good 4-tooth fat wethers at 16s ; merino wethers at lis ; breeding ewes, first cress, mixed ages, a very level line of quality, for 13s 6d.
