CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE.

The Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, the 28lh inst :

There has been no important change in the grain market during the past week, local requirements being fairly supplied. Transactions are almost confined to purchasers for shipment. The firm tone held by buyers of wheat precludes the possibility of any appreciable rise in the cereal, while the continued low rates ruling in the Home market, together with the exra burden of the increased tariff show a very gloomy prospect to the farmers. It is fully expected, ' from the accounts to hand,' that there will be a very strong muster of farmers and others interested at the meeting in the hall, Tuam street, on Saturday, to urge on the Government the desirability of reconsidering their late action.
