MEETING AT WOODBURY.

On Saturday night last a well attended meeting was held at Woodbury for the purpose of taking into consideration tiie holding of races and to fix the date of same. Mr J. H. Dean, having been voted to the chair, read the advertisement in the Geraldine Guardian convening the meeting, and remarked that it rested with those present as to whether there should be races or not. On the motion of Mr Davie, seconded by Mr Wadlow, it was resolved—“ That races be held at Woodbury on Easter Monday, April 14th, next,”' The following were elected as a General Committee :—Messrs Flatman, Gould, Wood, Dean, Davie, M, Heatley, Jansen, E. Heately, Crosky, Guthrie, Wadlow, J. Quaid, and J, Mundell. Mr M. Heatley suggested that a club be formed, to be called The Woodbury Jockey Club, and the subscription thereto be 10s per annum. The suggestion then took the form of a resolution, which was seconded by Mr Flatman and unanimously carried. A list was at once prepared and several names entered thereon. The following were appointed a Working Committee, four to form a quorum : Messrs Flatman, M. Heatley, Wadlow, Dean. Jansen, Davie and Gould. Mr Wallow was appointed Secretary and Treasurer. It was decided that the Working Committee shculd meet on Saturday next at the same lime and place to report to ageneral meeting as to amount of subscriptions collected and promised, etc. The Chairman and Mr Davie were appointed a deputation to interview Mr Turton re allowing his paddock to be used as a racecourse for the day named. To report on Saturday night next. It was resolved that the booths, etc., be submitted to public competition by Mr Mundell, and that he be requested to make the best arrangements possible in order to obtain the services of the Geraldine Brass Band on the race day. Also, that Mr D. McKenzie be comcomuuicated with, asking for bis assistance in drawing up the programme, etc.

The meeting then adjourned till Saturday evening next at the same time and place.
