RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Temuka —Monday, Feb. 12, 1884. [Before S. D. Barker and J. Talbot, Esqs., J.P.’s.] ASSAULT, Robert Latimer was charged with having assaulted James Davis on the evening of the 2nd inst. It appeared from the evidence that Davis and his son were driving a cow belonging to Latimer to the pound when they were met by the latter, who made use of bad language to Davis, put his fist to his month, and struck him in the ribs with his elbows. Latimer denied having done anything of the kind, but the Bench thought an assault had been committed and fined him 10s or 24 hours’ imprisonment. George Latimer was then charged with having assaulted James Davis on the same evening. It appeared that after having left Robert Latimer, Davis was met by George Latimer, and that the latter as saulted him in the same way as the firsthad done. George Latimer was fJso fined 10s or in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. CIVIL CASES. K. F. Gray v. George Bissett — Claim £l4 10s 3d. The plaintiff stated that he had received all but £3 Os 4d of the ciara, and judgment was given for that amount. The Court then adjourned.
