DREADFUL MURDERS AT NAPIER.

A shocking deed was committed on Sunday at Ormondville Settlement, Seventy-mile Bush, on the NapierWoodville railway. A man named L, Edwards had been on the spree, and, in a fit of delirium, cut the throats of his wife and four children, and afterwards attempted to cut his own throat, but he only inflicted a slight wound. Edwards was arrested yesterday morning and taken to Waipawa County Hospital, where the wound was dressed, ana was then taken back to Ormondville for [the inquest. Edwards was a platelayer, and addicted to drink. He has been twice before the Resident Magistrate charged with lunacy, brought on by excessive drinking, and had been discharged from the asylum on a medical certificate.
