MOUNT PEEL ROAD-BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Boird was held in the Road Board Office,. Peel Forest, or. Friday, 16tli inst. MEMBERS PRESENT. The Hon. J. B. A. Acland (Chairman), Messrs Heney, Mackay,, Tripp, and Wilson.. MINUTES.; The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. TENDERS., The following tenders were considered : Contract,No. at Sherwood Downs—k. P Bracefield, £220 ; Patrick Burke, £2lO ; Alexander O'Neil, £l7B ; Timothy Sugrue, £JL7P ; Joha Sullivan,, £166 (accepted). No. 63—Forming from Baine's Greek to Deep Creek—N. P, Bracefield, £267; Timothy Sugrue, £2OO ; Joseph Wharton. £1654b ; Thomas Press, 124 (accepted), No. 64—FencingSidling; Cutting, Peel Forest—James Proud foot, 23s per. chain (accepted), CORRESPONDENCE, The following correspondence was read and considered': — From the Public Works Office, Wellington, stating; that the Government have decided to place the Fairlie Creek Bailway terminus on the Government reserve, but that a siding was to be placed at the present township. The Clerk was directed.to acknowledge the receipt of the letter. From the Levels Eoad Board, stating that the state of their funds would not allow of their undertaking, to share the cost of a footbridge across the Opihi near its junction with the Opuha. From Messrs Morrison and Dunlop, requesting the Board to lengthen the culvert in front of their premises- at Peel Forest. Resolved—" That the Board will provide the timber if Messrs Morrison and Dunlop will find the labor and finish th« work to.the satisfaction of the Overseer. From Messrs Clarke and McMaster j asking permission to place a gate across the road on the south side of the Opuha river, near Bobb's hut. Besolved—"That permission be granted upon condition that it be light and easily opened and shut, and to be approved by Overseer:" From Messrs White and Jameson, in reference to stoppiug roads- under the Public Works Act. From the Chief Surveyor, in reference to the plans of the Dew. roads, at Sherwood Downs. INTERVIEWS. Mr Lorgelly had an interview with the Board, requesting that a bridge be built over the creek at the end. of the ctobs road in Peel Forest. The Overseer was directed to inspect the creek and report at nest meeting. j
Mr William Smith waited on the Board with reference to a renew.il of the lease of the reserve at Peel Forest The matter was deferred until after the annual meeting of rai<'p'>y- j r3. ANNUAL ME-TING OF RATEPAYERS.. ■Resolved—"That die annual m etine. of ratepayeis be held on Monday,, th, 2nd; January, at 12 noon ' MISCELLANEOUS. The Clerk wms directed to write-'to.ihc; Levels Road B>ard and the Waimate County Council.asking.for. inform-.itibu in reference to road,roller ; also, to write to Mr C,.R. Shaw, asking if cht plans of the diversion of, the road in the Orari Gorge are completed ; and further, to effect an insurance over the Road Beard premises near Eairlie Creek. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £661 15a l(d were passed for payment, and the Board then adjourned,
