“HAPPY HOURS.”

Such was the title of an entertainment given last evening in the Volunteer Hall by those well-known artistes, Mr and Mrs Hart, assisted by Miss Hart and Mr Kirby. We were sorry to find that the Hall was barely half filled, as it wel deserved liberal patronage at the hands of the good people of Temuka. The entertainment consisted of various impersonations—quickly changed—by the company, interspersed with songs and dances, Miss Hart ably acting ns accompanyist on the piano. This young lady has greatly improved since we last had the pleasure of {listening to her, and is a great acquisition to the" company. Mr Kirby accompanied on the piano during the time she sang. Of Mr and Mrs Hart it is not necessary to dilate upon as they have always been great favorites with the amusement loving public. Of the entertainment taken as a whole, the skipping dance by Mrs Hart, and the banjo solo, on the tiniest of tiny banjos were the most enjoyable. The company perform at Ashburton to-night and Monday and are en route for Christchurch where we wish them a successful season. It is a pity that the shareholders of the hall do not possess a piano of theirown asfrom ex* isting arrangements it comes rather hard on performers to pay for the hall arid then have to hire a piano privately also. We throw out the hint trusting it may be acted upon.
