FAREWELL ADDRESS, TO MR WARDEN WOOD.
The following is the address presented to Mr Warden Wood by the residents of Waikaia, prior to his departure from that district ;
Mr Wood, —We, on belialf of the residents of Waikaia district, are deputed to express our sincere regret on account of your removal to another locality, and further, to express our satisfaction in respect to the manner in which you have discharged the duties of your various offices as Warden and Evident Magistrate for the long period of 17 years. We did hope after so many years of arduous duties you would have been able to cast in your lot with us, but circumstances have arisen that preclude the possibility of your remaining with us at present. We still hope at some future time your health may be spared to finally make Waikaia your home. It is the intention of the residents of Waikaia to express their appreciation of your services in a more substantial inanbut owing to the short notice received of your removal, we have been unable to carry out our wishes on the occasion of your present visit. We would therefore request you to inform us if you thought it likely you would visit us again at an early date.
In conclusion, we wish to record our sincere wishes for your health and success in your new sphere of operations.
