The mnnt ly meeting of the Bear’d was held in the Board office on Friday,(he IGth inst. Present—Messrs C. G. Tripp, J. Honey and J. Wilson. In the absence of the Chaiiman, Mr Tripp was voted to the Chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Smith had an interview with the Board in respect to reserve near Peel Eorest, asking the Board to fume the line between Mr Dennistoun’s land and th * interviewer’s CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read : —From the Chief Surveyor, in reference to certain alterations on (he Upper Rangitata Road. From Mr J. L. Wilson, in reference to his contract for breaking metal. Resolved —“ That if Mr Wilson has not signed the agreement, or refuses to do so at once, tenders be called for breaking four thousand yards of metal. From the Treasury, forwarding form, of returns, to be filled up under section 62 of “The Financial Arrangements Act.” The Clerk was instructed to fill up the form, and forward it to the Chairman for his signature. From tin: Geraldine Counly Council, asking for returns under section 32 of “ The financial ' Arrangi-menls Act 1876 also forwarding a copy of the electoral roll of the Mount Peel Hiding. From the same, asking if the Board would consent to their Clerk acting as Collector of Dog Taxes for the Mount Peel Biding. Resolved—“ That as the duties of Cie'k and Overseer are combined, he C"U 1 d not undertake the collectionof dog taxes.” From Mr R. McMillin, asking the Board to continue the formation of the road up the Oran Gorge. The Overseer informed the Board that Die extension applied Fr was included in No. 8 contract. Mr J. Watkins made application for the payment of the balance of the Boards grant for the teraperory platform at the Rangitata bridge. The matter was deferred till the next meeting ot the Board, and the Clerk instructed to write to the Ashburton County Council, asking if they have paid Mr Watkins the balance of their grant. NEW WORKS. The Overseer was instructed to call tenders for .widening the cutting and forming a further length of the road on the Orari Downs. After passing accounts to the amount of L 599 17s sd, the Board adjourned.
