GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A special meeting of the above Committee was held in the schoolroom, Geraldine, on the 14th inst. Present —Rev. J. Preston (chairman) Messrs C. E. Sherratt, G. Ward, Freeman, and D. Shaw. The minutes of the last special and general meetings were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was read and considered —From the Board of Educa ior. re planting ; from the same requesting the Committee to submi t to the a plan of the proposed pro tective works for the river bank j from the same, notifying that the suras of L 7 7g 7d and Ll Is had been paid to the credit of the Committee on account of sundry accounts and auditor’s fee ; from the Rev. Mr (Sadler, asking per-mis-ion to use the schoolroom once a week lor Band of hope meetings ; from the Board of Education, enclosing letters and testimonials fur the candidates who had applied for the post of second master. The following resolutions w-we passed: “ That Mr Drummond be recommended to the Board for the post of second master.” “ That the Board be asked to geant the sum of L 7 los for phmtim purposes, provided the B aird find the trees, and Llo if the Committee bare to fin 1 them, the number required bring about 100 assorted pines and 1 oo willows.’ “ That the auditor’s foe of Ll Is be pa'd.” “ That a Sub-Committee, consisting nfMessrs (1. E. Sher r att, Geo. 'Ward, ami W. Masliu, be appointed to prepared plan fyr protective works.” A letter from the Chairman of tho Timaru School Coramitt.e re conference of Chairmen was read, and it was decided to allow the matter to stand over tPI next meettng. Resolved—“ That Mr Sadler’s application for the use of the schoolroom be granted, on the understanding that the Committee, shall not be called npon ;o pap for extra cleaning.” That one ton of coal and cords of firewood he obtained.” The meeting then terminated.
