j It is staled the have determined to stop the navigation of the Waihoa river. The Thames authorities advise the Government to arm the "Waitemata natives for their self-protection. The surveyors at Rangitiri have "received instructions tc desist from surveying at Waikari Lake for the present, and to go on working at the higher district. Some of the natives at Kangiriri say it is not their people who are causing trouble, but natives from King Country who came down to Eangiriri for the ■express purpose of stopping the surveyors.
