A great famine is raging at Cashmere. The movements of Dacoits, in the Bombay Presidency, have collapsed. Yakoob Khan has returned to Cabul, Major Cavagnari has been appointed - British President at Cabul. AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Sydney, July 9. The Premier tabled a series of resolutions against the Council’s repeated rejection of the Assembly’s carefullyconsidered measures recommending the introduction of a Bill to make the Council responsible to.the people. The Treasurer submitted a proposal for a further loan of £7,787,768 for railways, water supply, and sewerage, the loan not to be placed on the market for some time, Adelaide wheat is active. Orders have been sent to the Cape. For cargoes millers offer 4s lOd. The Council having rejected the Land Bill, Sir H, Parkes, before the prorogation, gives the Assembly a chance of dealing with the question. A deadlock is feared. Sir H.
