TEMUKA VOLUNTEERS.
A special meeting of the Temuka Rifle Volunteers took place in the Volunteer Hall, Temuka, last night. Considering the inclemency of the weather, the attendance wa&*-U good, about 30 members being paesent. Previous to Lieut. Findlay giving away prizes which were fired for at Winchester, as per scores given below, Sub-Lieut. White put the company through a number of movements in a manner which did credit to the company and their officers.
Lieut. Findlay then read a letter from the captain of the Tiruaru Artillery, apologising for nob being able to compete for prizes offered by the Temuka Volunteers on account of being out of ammunition, and thanking them for their kind inyitation. He then proceeded to distribute the prizes as follows, saying a few accompanying remarks to each successful competitor as ho came up to receive his prize. The following is the list of prizes, with the presenter’s name first, the winner’s second: — Silver Teapot —Mr T. Swintoa, Winchester —Sergeant Brewer. Silver Cup—Corp. Woodhead —Private Smith.
