GERALDINE COUNTY COUNCIL.
The following is a copy of the letter containing the legal opinion of Messrs Hanmcr and Harper to the Chairman of the County Council. 11 Christchurch, March 29, 1879. “ C. G. Tripp, Esq., Chairman Geraldine County Council. “Sm, —In reply to your letter of the 20th insiant, we beg to stale that wo arc of opinion that the special meeting convened for the purpose of the adoption of the whole of the Counties Act was properly constituted for that purpose, notwithstanding the resignation of two of the members of the Council previously to the special meeting being bold. “ We are further of opinion that three members voting in favor of the adoption of the Act constituted a clear majority of the whole of tho Council as at that time represented by five membeii!, and all of whom wore present at the special meeting’.
