Final Gallops Of Taranaki Horses To Race at Marton
Final gallops of New 1'Iymouth horscsto race at thc Wanganui meeting to-morrow were done on the tracks yesterday morntng in showery weather. The plough and trigi grass were used for all fast work. Last Match (McKinnon), on the plough, was timcd to run flve of a slx-furlong gallop in 1.7. , . . Minority (Kamo) showed dash in a sprint over half a mile, recordlng oljs. Starlet (McKinnon), wlio is big and bright in condition, ran a good flve lurlongs in 1.4. Aga Kay (Kamo) and Shcasta (Kabene) were companions over four furlongs. They finishrd their task well for green horses, taking 51 4-5s for the distanee. Ring Chief (Kamo) and Voung Jim (McKinnon) did a useful gullop over seven furlongs on the trial. They ran that distanee In 1.35, with Young Jim doing a little the better at the finish. Statue (Kamo) was not troubled to run (lve furlongs in 1.4. Mountain Fox (Kamo) and Karerenui (Katene) again jumped six hurdlcs on the inside. Both horses jumped well, but Mountain Fox had too ni'ich speed for his companion, and flnisbed well clear. All the New Plymouth horses who have been accepted for the Wanganui meeting are to make the journey.
