Mr. D. B. Robertson's Death

A member of a family of sik brothers, well-known in the early days of South Taranaki, Mr. Du'ncan Blair Robertson died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. Melville, Fordell, on Sunday, at the age of 80 years. Mr. Robertson was the third son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Robertson, who were early residents of the Okoia district. He travelled from Scotland with his parents when a young man. Some years later Mr. Robertson left for the Auroa district, taking up a virgin bush section. He moved later to Rama Road. Mr. Robertson laid claim to having felled the first tree when a site was chosen for the first school at Auroa. After he left Rama Road he lived at Waverley for about 40 years. About ten years ago he retired to Wanganui. Mr. Robertson was a member of the Waverley Bowling Club and later of a Wanganui club. Mr. Robertson is survived by a brother, Mr. Alex Robertson, Wanganui, four sons, Messrs. William, Walter, James and Donald Robertson (all of the Waverley district), and one daughter, Mrs. Melville. His wife died several years ago.
