Death of Mr. J. F. O'Dea
Connected with the dairying industry in Taranaki and elsewhere in New Zealand for a long period, Mr. John Francis O'Dea died at Palmerston North this week. Mr. O'Dea, who was aged 64 years, was a member of a well-known Taranaki family. He was manager of the Pihama dairy factory for a number of years, and on his cheese record was appointed to the grading stores at Palmerston North. Later he was transferred to Wellington as chief grader for both tiie North and South Islands, a position that he held until his retirement to live at Palmerston North a year ago. Mr. O'Dea is survived by his wife (formerly Miss Minnie Sheerin), one daughter, Mrs. Keith Hendrick (Wellington) and four sons, Mr. Percy O'Dea (serving overseas), Mr. John O'Dea (Auckland) and Messrs. Everett and Bernard O'Dea (Palmerston North). Two brothers are Messrs. J. O'Dea (Auroa) and T. O'Dea (Palmerston North), and two sisters are Mesdames M. Radich (Inglewood) and S. Glenny (Napier). A sister, Mrs. F. McPhillips (Manaia), and a brother, Mr. P. O'Dea (Hawera) died before him.
