Double Dose of Bombs For Enemy at Akyab
Rec. 8.30 p.m. New Delhi, Aug. 31. Royal Air Force, and American air force medium bombers and fighters on two successive days carried out successful combined raids on Myitkyima • after the enemy had completed repairs necessitated by a previous bombing. In the first raid the airfield and dispersal areas were directly hit and anti-personnel bombs were dropped on barracks and towns. In the ^second raid the runway was directly hit and ant.-persomiel bombs scattered among aerodrome . buildings. The Allied force suffered no damage or casualties. A communique states that yesterday the Royal Air Force bombed Japanese river craft at Akyab. Low-level attacks were made on one steamer, which was seen to be sinking. Some aircraft returned to their base without carrying out their mission owing to bad weather.
