Zoning Officer Spends Busy Day In North Taranaki
| Though he will probably issue a summary of his impressions before he leaves Taranaki, Mr. H. M. Christie, zoning officer for the North Island, stated at New Plymouth lasl ! night that any decisions he had to make on disputed points would be sent to the Minister of Transport as recommendations for gazetting. Mr. Christie covered a great deal of | ground yesterday. In the morning he ! met the transport control committee at New Plymouth and discussed a number of problems, including those relating to ; transport of stock and the question of 1 correlating functions to avoid overlapping j activities between the committee and : himself. There were also short confer- ! ences with representatives of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce and the grocers' association. , Waitara was visited in the afternoon, when Mr. Christie addressed businessmen and discussed their special problems. In addition he heard pros and cons regarding dairy company boundary disputes between North Taranaki and Waitoitoi, Omata and Patua, and Mangorei and Moa. No decisions were reached in these matters, it being left to Mr. Christie to make recommendations to the Minister after giving full consideration to the information placed before him. Mr. Christie will go to Stratford today, and to-morrow he will visit t awera on his way to Wanganui. It is his intention to return to Taranaki shortly.
