Less Rainfall in August In New Plymouth District

The highest recording of sunshine for August at New Plymouth was 10.6 hours on the last day of the month. A complete record made at the Marsland Hill climatological station showed that the month was twice as dry as August. 1941, but there was less sunshine and the mean temperature was only just over one degree higher. Total rainfall for the month was 4.11 inches, compared with 8.16 in August. 1941. The highest temperature recorded was 63.2 degrees. compared with 58.6 degrees in 1941. The lowest grass minimum was 17.5 degrees.
