Massage Benefits Will Be Available From Sept. 1
Wellington, Aug. 28. An announcement that the Minister of Health has appointed September 1 as the date on or after which massage benefits would be available was made last evening bv the Director-General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt. Up to the present free massage services have been available only at public hospitals, and patients attending masseurs in private practice have had to meet the full cost of their treatment. On and after September 1 approximately half. a . mas6eur's fee will be payable from the Social Security Fund. Before they can avail themselves of this beneflt patients must obtain a written recommendation from a medical practitioner that they are in need of massage treatment from a masseur who has undertaken to afford massage benefits in accordance with the conditions laid down in the regulations.
