Many Germans And Italians Arrested In Brazilian States
Rec. 9.10 pjn. Rio de Janeiro, Aug. 27. More than 1000 Germans and Italians have ben arrested in four days at Rio de Janeiro and in nearby States. One thousand more have been taken into custody in outlylng States. Venezuela and Colombia have granted non-belligerent status to Brazil. All the nine South American countries have now granted non-belligerency recognition to Brazil. The Uruguayan Govemment announced that Brazil and Uruguay would cooperate in common defence against possible aggression. The Uruguayan National Defence Ministry has been authorised to adopt. in agreement with the Brazilian military authorities. all measures designed to improve the efficiency of their common defence. Uruguay has declared complete solidarity with Brazil.
