Targets in Western Germany Attacked

Rec, 5.5 pon. Kugby, Aug. Tio. A single aircraft of the Bomber Command attacked targets in western Germany and Holland in daylight yesterday, the Air Ministry announces. Last night aircraft of the Coastal Command continued their attacks on enemy shipping. Two ships in convoy off the Frisian Isiands were hit and docks and shipping Bt La Pallice were also bombed. From these operations one aircraft of the Bomber Command is missing. A Hurricane bomber made a lone attack on seven German E-boats only two miles off the French coast during the night, ieaving one of them in flames. Two 2501b bombs were dropped on the last boat, which wa s left blazing. "This moming two enemy aircraft dropped bombs at places on the south coast of England," says the Air Ministry. "There was a small number of casualties and some damage. One attacking aircraft was destroyed by anti-aircraft fire." A woman and her eight children were killed when an Anderson shelter received a direct hit in a night raid on an East Anglian town. Her husband, who was standing outside the shelter, was seriously injured. The Berlin radio says that the Luftwaffe bombed Ipswich and Great Yarinouth, causing fires.
