Whakamara Preservation

Private L. Buckrell was guest of honour at a social evening in the Whakamara hall. On behalf of residents Mr. J. Potter presented Pte. Buckrell with a cheque. A sliaving outfit was also presented to Pte. Buckrell In honour of his 21st birthday. Items were given by Misses M. Butler, W. Potter and J. Reid, and Messrs. G. Rimmer and M. Langley (songs) and Miss J. Reid (piano accordion). Accompanists were Mrs. H. R. Scott and Mrs. A. Langley. A charade was given by MesdaniCB Scott. Potter, Retd, Mickelson and Misses J. Reid and N. Potter and Messrs. J. Potter, U. Rimmer and C. Mickelson. Dance music was played by Mesdames Mickelson and Langley and Miss N. Rothery, with extras by Messrs. Schicker and Caldwell. Miss R. Scott is spending the school hoHdays with her parents. Mrs. J. Potter, New Plymoutlj, and Miss P. Barkla rccently visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Barkla. Mrs. A. Langley lias returned after visiting Mrs. Henty, Hawera. Miss B. McCall has been spending a holiday with Mr. and Mrs. A. Langley. . Mr. and Mrs. V. Howells are spending a holiday with Air. R. Caldwell. Mr. W. Davies is spending a holiday with her parents at Auckland. Miss Jean Langley visited her parents recently. Mr. J. Stewart, Wanganui, is spending a holiday with Mr. R. Caldwell.
