Great Come-back
It is a far cry back to 1924 when a. diminutive Maori lad piloted Cold Steei to victory in the Wanganui CtiP' was Tom Tito, well-known in Taranaki. He took no .risks that day, making every post a winning one. For a period Tom was an ornament of the profession, increasing welght causing him trouble, and for a few years he was not seen in the saddle. But he surprised the sportlng world by staging a come-back, showing all his former dash and punch. He was seen more frequently in highweight and jumping events and a 'chaser who built up a good record when ndden by him, more particularly in the season before last, was Lady Callaghan. And now Tito has attained fresh heights, realising the ambition of every jumping rider — that of piloting a National winner. He handled Renascor in great style in the National Hurdles and no one would begrudge the popuiar Maori jockey his win.
