Proposed Observance Of Day of Prayer at Hawera

In observance of the national day of prayer on September 3 the inter-church committee at Hawera for the campaign of Christian order proposes that shops should be closed for an hour from 10 and 11 a.m., that a pubiic service be held in the Opera House, and that services of intercession be held in individual churches at night. A deputation consisting of Canon D. B. Malcolm, the Rev. H. Wesley Parker, Mr. F. W. Horner and Mr. L. A. Bone was appointed to wait upon the Mayor, Mr. • L. H. Clapham, who would be asked to request the co-operation of retailers in the closing of business premises for the hour of the pubiic service. | Arrangements to further the campaign for Christian order at Hawera were made and the help of voluntary lay workers was enlisted.
