Gift to Prize Fund. / A gift of £5 5s to the South Taranaki Agricultural and Pastoral Association for the prize fund in connection with the summer show was made at a meeting of the South Taranaki Electric Power Board at Hawera. Annual Concert. The sum of £37 was raised towards school funds as the result of the annual concert of the Waverley pubiic and district high schools in the town hall. There was a packed house, and all items were well received. Dalry Factory Manpower. Commenting on a report of the annual meeting of the Riverdale Dairy Company, the chairman of directors, Mr. J. W. Snowdon, points out that in referring to the labour difficulty he said the problem of manpower in the factories had become very acute, but the fact that dairy factories had now been classed as essential industries, together with the change to butter, might ease the position somewhat. Power Board Difficulties. Difficulties which will have to be faced by the South Taranaki Electric Power Board, caused mainly by shortage of manpower, and the possible effect of the shortage of tyres were discussed at a meeting of the board at Hawera on Friday night. The possibility of establishing men at some of the most distant parts of the board's area, such as Patea and Manaia, to ensure a complete coverage and reduce travelling was discussed. It was left to the engineer, Mr. J. Lythgoe. to make inquiries. Road Safety Passes. Boy cadets of the Hawera St. John Ambulance Brigade who pased a road safety examination received certificates when they- paraded recently under Cadet Superintendent C. E. Coates. The examiner was the traffic inspector, Mr. C. A. J. Peterson, and certificates were presented to the following by Corps Superintendent S. R. Breach: Edward Neilson, Reginald Ellison, Alex Thomson, Ray Coombe, Robert Cann, Mansell Sheehan, Basil Johns, Raymond Corby, Arthur Travis, Norman Hopkins, Brian Low, John Corby, Keith Whittingham, Sean ' McCluskev. Raymond Barkla, Vincent Reilly. Boris Kurta, Evan Sharp, William Hopkins, Noel Tidswell, Miles Pointon and Allen Sharp. '
