New Plymouth Mrs. W. H. Jones returned to New Plymouth last night after visiting Christchurch. „ , Mrs. K. L. Wakefield will this week-end for Christchurch. Miss Betty Varnham arrived from Auckland yesterday to spend a holiday with her mother, Mrs. F. S. Varnham. Mrs. E. Christie has returned from Manaia. , Miss Cicily Greatbatch will leave today to spend a holiday at Wellington. Mrs. F. M. Phillips returned to Wellington yesterday after spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs. J. S. S. Medley. Mrs. J. G. Bray has returned to Gisborne after spending a holiday with Mrs. W. E. Alexander. Miss Myra Allan, Hamilton, is the guest of Mrs. J. Moorby. The following students at the Auckland Teachers' Training College arrived yesterday to spend the vacation at their homes at New Plymouth; Misses Rosemary Brunton, Lesley Coleman; Janet Aitken, Margaret Binns, Marjorie Tait, Mary Short, Beryl Hoben, Rhoda Hare, Rae Duxfield, Irene Gadd, Nancy Colson, Vivien Veale, Joyce Wheeler, Beth Sanders, Betty Person, Thea McCullough and Dorothy Bottrill. Women's Auxiliary Meets. The annual meeting of the women's auxiliary of the New Plymouth Y.W.C.A. was held in the Alexander hall on Wednesday. Hostesses were Mesdames G. Loveridge and Valentine Smith and Miss M. Papps. Officers elected were: President, Mrs. F. Carter vice-presidents, Mesdames T. Tait, G. R. Loveridge and Miss M. Papps; secretary, Mrs. G. Tavendale; tea convener, Mrs. Hubball. A musical programme arranged by Mrs. R. L. Cooper was presented, the performers being Mesdames Rugby Hawkins and J. H. H. Holm (songs and duets), Mrs. Holm (humorous readings) and Mrs. Cooper (pianoforte solos). Miss M. Jones, general secretary, spoke of the coming-of-age of the Y.W.C.A.
