Mrs. P. Denham, who was the guest of her mother, Mrs. Duke, Manawapou Road, returned to Morrinsville last week. Mrs. J. Stening has returned after spending a week at Auckland. Veale, New Plymouth, formerly of Hawera, official accompanist at the Hawera competitions festival, arrived on Thursday and is the guest of Mrs. W. W. Thomas. Mrs. V. J. Stratton, who speht a few days at Wellington, returned on Thursday night. Mrs. J. C. Hobhs is visiting fnends at New Plymouth. Mrs. T. R. Surrey returned on Thursday from a short visit to Wellington. Miss D. Duke is spending the school vacation in Waikato. Miss M. Bruce has left to spend a holiday in the South Island. Mrs. V. S. Latham, who spent a few weeks' holiday at Wanganui and Masterton, returned home yesterday.^ Miss Marion Bernard has arrived from Auckland to spend a fortnight with her mother, Mrs. F. Bernard. Miss Christine McEwen, of Auckland Training College, has arrived to spend the vacation with her mother, Mrs. A. E. McEwen, at Normanby. Miss Betty Archbold, of Auckland University College, arrived this week to spend the vacation with her mother, Mrs. J. W. Archbold. Miss Marjorie Webster arrived yesterday to epend a fortnight with her mother, Mrs. H. E. Webster. Madame Aileen Johns, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. A. J. Cooper. A few friends were entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. Cartwright to farewell Mr. Cartwright before his departure to camp. The evening was spent in cards and competitions, the prizewinners being Mrs. W. N. Stening and Mrs. G. Bootten. Club Bridge. Three tables of auction and five of eontract were in play at the bridge circle's evening on Thursday night. when Mrs. E. Burke and Mrs. H. E. Robinson were the prizewinners. Hostesses and organisers for the evening were Mrs. R. Lewes and Mrs. P. J. Oakley.
