Industrious Women Help Win the War

Industriously clicking knitting needles have been the chief mode of turning leisure hours into value'by/women of the Inglewood district' since the outbreak of war. This is indicated by the large pile of knitted articles seen by a Daily News leporter recently in the oflfice of the secretary of the patriotic committee, Mr. T. A. Jones. About 701b of wool has been received by the committee from the provincial council, and up until somewhere about a month ago, 361b of the wool had been knitted into articles needed by the armed forces. At that time the total number of knitted articles received by the committee totalled 431. Articles knit-

ed under the auspices of the committee included 95 balaclavas, 65 scarves, 11 pairs mittens, and 160 hussiffs. Articles from private sources included 25 balaclavas, 29 scarves, 38 pairs of mittens, and 13 skull caps. Knitting has not occupied all the time of the women of the committee and district, for about 70 soldiers' parcels have been made up and forwarded to headquarters for dispatch overseas. In this connection, the committee was given a box of soap by the Inglewood branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union.
