For those interested in fiowering shrubs King Edward Park, Hawera, is 1 now at its best. Broom. wattles, azaleas | and rhododendrons are in full flower. I A plantation of akeake which has stood for many years at the east end of ' the larger lake has been removed and [ choice shrubs donated to take its place , should in time be a marked improveI ment. Work is also proceeding to extend the present azalea plantation along the whole length of the lake to the area at the foot of the old cherry walk. All the leaf mould and soil available from the park grounds, supplemented by ! loads from Denby Road, is being depos- | ited in that area. the object being to build up a bed for planting on the area, | which' has been sub.iect to undue daxnpness in rainy seasons. — —
