Miss Beryl Macalister has returned to Wellington after being the guest of her mother, Mrs. S. Macalister. Miss Clara Wickham, Auckland, is the guest of her mother, Mrs. W. Wickham, Bird Road. Mrs. B. Barker, Page Street, was hostess at an afternoon for making toys for a Red Cross shop day. The Red Cross Society held its sewing j afternoon at the home of Mrs. P. S. ! Finlayson this weelc. A competition foi a damask table cloth was won by Mrs. j E. Riley. Club Evening, An enjoyable time was spent at the Stratford club when the annual ladies' evening was held on Wednesday. Mrs. H. A. Heslop, wife of the president, welcomed the guests in a gown of black floral patterned georgette. The entrance hall was decorated with ferns and yellow kowhai and the rooms with bowls of pink camellias, spring bulbs with ferns and cherry blossom decorating the walls. A dance was held at the aerodrome clubrooms this week to raise money for the Spitfire fund. A cake made and donated by Mrs. G. Petrie raised £5 and was won by Miss Hazel Femmel.
