LARGER YARDINGS
entries affect prices dominion stock sales i Consequent upon warrner weather and better feeding, larger entries of both cattle and sheep were noticed at #most sale centres of New Zealand this week. i Where the yardings were in excess of the demand slight recessions in price occurred, but, generally, the market remained surprisingly firm. Many entries spoilt the sale from a vendors point of view at Stortford Lodge, where heavy bullocks fell by 3s to 4s a 1001b and lighter sorts by 2s. There was no change : in store cattle, but hoggets were ls to 2s a head cheaper. Similarly. heavy j oxen were easier at Burnside owing to | heavy entries, though other lines re- ; mained unchanged. Contrary to most I other centres, the sheep yarding here I was small and prices reacted accordingI ly, a rise of 2s to 3s a head being report- ; ed. Heavy baconers were not wanted at | this sale, but other pigs sold well. Late 1 rates prevailed for beef at Westfield, vealers were in keen demand, runners were easier but pigs were firm. Here, again, large entries caused a fall in sheep and larnb prices. Sheep were also easier at Addington, where the yarding was much stronger than usual. Cattle were firm and pigs strong. Good saies resulted at Frankton and Wanganui, but many fat sheep resulted in a slackening in price at Masterton. Realisations were as follows: —
