"BROADWAY MELODY OF 1910."

HAWERA PRESENTATION. ' Any studio that puts Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell together in a dancing picture cannot possibly go wrong m tlre field of entertainment. In "Broadway Melody of 1940" the public is given the best "Broadway Melody" picture ever and the best musical picture of the year. Hawera picturegoers have supported this picture at the Opera House with the greatest enthusiasm. Astaire wns never belter and this picture shows a new and lovelier Eleanor Powell. Murphy, as a l-esult of this one, is practically a star. The comedy is handled as the public loves it— by Frank Morgan. Florcnce Rice and Lynne Carver are clever and eye-filling and Ian Hunter continues to give his fine performances. The story is not about a stage-struck girl who gets her big chance. Miss Powell is a dancing star right from the first reel and Astaire and Murphy, even though they do start upward in the world in the story, start out as stelkr material who just have to be discovered. The story itself is highly amusing and dramatically human and tlie dialogue sparkles.
