WEDDING

SPARGO— KEMPSELL An evening wedding was solemnised at St. Mary's church, New Plymouth, on August 6. when Constance Anne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Kempsell, Waitara, was married to Mr. Newton Ronald Spargo, Huirangi. Archdeacon G. H. Gavin officiated and Mr. R. L. Dukes was the organist. Simplicity was the keynote of the trained model sheath-like gown of ivory duchess satin. worn by the bride when she entered the church with her father. The simple V neckline was caught with a spray of orange blossom and the softly draped cross-over bodice was gathered into a deep shaped waistband, the front of the waist being appliqued with orange blossom in silk net and satin. With the fullness concentrated at the back, the skirt fell in rich folds to form a long oval Uain, with three large scallops, the} centre scallop being appliqued. The silk blonde lace veil (an heirloom more than 150 years old) was caught to the head with a topknot of white winter roses and hyacinths and fell to form a second train. Her shower bouquet was of ivory sweet peas, hyacinths, winter roses, double azalea and Scotch heather, arranged with streamers of maidenhair fern. Suspended from the bouquet was a silver horseshoe presented by the bride's little niece, Madeleine Leeson, Auckland. Mrs. W. A. Dickson, New Plymouth. the bride's sister, who acted as matronof -honour, worc a slipper length gown of gold embossed tafletas with a smart ruched bolero of gold silk net. Her Juliet cap was of real fiowers in tonings of flame and gold and her bouquet of lemon abutilons and ranunculi fringed with lemon-shaded leaves. Mr. W. A. Dickson, New Plymouth, was best man. A reception was helcl at the home of Ihe bride's sister, Mrs. W. A. Dickson, Vogeltown, where the tables were decorated with golden spring fiowers and Iceland poppies. Mrs. J. Kempsell wore a currant wine ensemble, with navy hat and accessories, and she wore a shoulder spray of daphne and hyacinths. Miss I. Spargo. sister of the bridegroom. chose a frock of tobacco brown and matching coat, with brown accessories and autumn tints in a shoulder spray. The bride travelled in a model frock of amethyst wool-georgette, with a brown fur cape and hat of sisal straw to tor.e. The bridegroom is a mcmbcr of the third echelon.
