More than his share of wartime adventures and escapes have been experienced by a steward on an overseas liner visiting Auckland. "Australia's Little Brother." New Zealand was Australia's little brother and would do its part in the war effort, said Hajor-General Sir John Duigan at a reception at Melbourne to the New Zealand Services Chiefs. War Loan Issue. Details of the forthcoming issue of New Zealand's war loan, for which prospectuses will be issued shortly, were given by the Minister of Finance, who emphasised the necessity for all to subscribe. Good Progress With Ballot. Good progress has been made with the territorial service ballot now being drawn at Wellington, and it is thought that if the present rate of progress is maintained the ballot may be completed to-day. Red Cross Concern. • Concern at reports of unauthorised collection of funds for the relief of sick and wounded was expressed by the Auckland Red Cross executive, which indicated it would welcome an inquiry.
