FOR MITCHELSON CUP
Auto Sweep demonstrated that his win at New Plymouth last month was no mere flash in the pan by scoring in solid fashion at Marton on Saturday. In most of his races he has tailed the field most of the way and come with a strong finishing run, but on Saturday he reached the front five furlongs from home. He was hotly challenged by Hasten in the straight, but held him off narrowly. Auto Sweep has been accorded a nomination for the Mitchelson Cup at Ellerslie next month and it is his ownertrainer's intention to start him in that event.
