ARARATA DISTRICT NEWS
A "bring and bu.v" and "hard up" dance was held in the Ararata hall, proceeds being in aid of the W.D.F.U. bomber fund. The dance, which was organised by women of the district, proved successffil, and the fund benefited by £12 10s. The "bring and buy" stall was in charge of Mrs. T. Wilson, Mrs. A. G. Larcom and Mrs. T. Tarrant. A social committee comprised Mrs. Cocker, Mrs O. Castles,. Mrs. T. A. Winks and Mrs. H. O. Gibbs. Mrs. G. H. Tocker was doorkeeper, Winners for the most "hard up" costumes were Mrs. J. Carver and Mrs. Sowerby. General competitions were won by Mr. J. Carver, Mr. G. Dowman and Mr. Bramford. Mrs; J. Carver and Mrs. T. Adams were mistresses of ceremony. Personal. Miss Margaret Wilson visited her parents during the week-end. Mr. T. A. Winks has returned from the Chateau. Miss Nora Parker, New Plymouth, returned after visiting her parents for the week-end. Miss Florence Larcom has retuni^d to .Ngatawa. . . ■' Mrs. E. Death has returned home.
