EVEN RACEHORSES

SPOILS FOR THE NAZIS Rec. 5.5 p.m, London, Sept. 17. Famous French racehorses seized by the Germans include Djebel, winner of the . Two Thousand Guineas, who has been sent to the stud in Germany. The best breeds of two celebrated French stables were sent to England before the outbreak of the war.

command respect. If reserved for this race Hasten would have friends after Ihe solid manner in which he was staying on when he scored at Awapuni. Dorado and Viracioiis - are possibilities, but the main fancies .may be Colonel Bogey, Gaelic Song, Winsome Lu and Noble Fox. Task for Amigo. Amigo has ibeen set a big task with 9.6 in the Railway Handicap, but he is such a good horse that he must be respected. He did his autumn racing over middle distances, but he still retains his speed. Taurangi's third on the second day at Awapuni was a promising effort, demonstrating that she can still sprint. As she is likely to have benefited by that outing she is likely to enter into the calculations for this race. A Stable Pair. Footloose and Saxon Tor both hail from H. Dulieu's stable, but so far have not raced this season. Of the two Saxon Tor is possibly the more forward, Footloose being on the burly side as yet. Screen Star's consistency will assure him of a big following. He was a close second to Duncannon on the first r day at Awapuni. Black Robe reads well after her fine showing on the second day at Awapuni, when she was only just beaten in the last 20 yards by the more seasoned Mittie. Chances of Nigger Boy. Nigger Boy has been scratched for his engagements recently, but if he takes his place in the field he will not lack support. His South Island form was good and he is reported to have done well since coming north. The easy manner in which Sea Link accounted for Screen Star at New Plymouth suggests that she will play a prominent part in the finish. Colossal Chief did well enough at Awapuni to enter into the calculations, while Heroic Maid at her best would not be without prospects on the minimum. Royal Minstrel would only require to act up to his track work to give a lot of cheek. The favourites may include Black Robe, Nigger Boy, Sea Link and Screen Star. Hawkes Bay Nomiiiations. Nominations for the Hawkes Bay Jockey Club's spring meeting at Hastings on October 3 and 5 close with the secretary, Mr. A. E. Wishart, Hastings, at 8 p.m. on Monday, September 23. The two-day programme is well balanced, catering for all classes of horses, including two-year-olds.
