Mrs. Howard Purser, New Plymouth, is the guest of Miss Kath O'Sullivan. Miss Jan Hills spent the week-end with her mother at Patea. * Afternoon Card Party. Bowls of japonica and sprirtg bulbs made a bright setting in Mrs. J. Syme's drawing room on Thursday, when she entertained friends at a bridge and five hundred party in aid of the croquet club funds. Mrs. W. F. Buist won the five hundred prize, and Miss M. Franklin had highest score at bridge. Those present included Mesdames R. B. Douglas, F. H. Bernard, W. F. Buist, S. R. Veitch, F. A. Quin, J. Timmins, W. T. Good, Wyllie, A. VE. Wills, J. B. Sawers, A. E. Morris, F. Guy, J. C. Thomas, Misses Cameron and M. Franklin. Mali Jongg Evening. For this month's meeting of the Women's Club mah jongg circle the lounge was decorated with bowls of rhododendrons and anemones. Organisers and hostesses for the evening were Mrs. N. Lewes, who wore cinnamon brown crepe satin frock and coatee, and Mrs. W. J. B. Hunter, whose frock of black lace was offset with a white fur fabric cape. Highest score was won by Mrs. A. E. Stevens, and most fiowers by Mrs. A. M. Winks. Among those who attended were Mesdames A. Thomson, Sinclair, A. M. Winks, L. Espagne, A. E. Stevens, F. G. Hawthorne, W. W. Davy, E. Evans, W. R. Shaw, R. Colville, J. Lander, Clarke, J. E. Dingle, H. E. Robinson, Misses F. Lander and C. Tonks. Alpinists Gather. An excellent attendance rewarded the efforts of the Mount Egmont Alpine Club social committee, which organised a dance on Saturday night at the Rewa lounge. The funds are to provide Christmas comforts for the many club members now serving overseas. An attractive decorative schem - was carried out in streamers, fern fronds, clematis trailers and spring blooms, with "Welcome" prominently placed, and skis and sticks as club emblems. Several novelty dances added variety to the programme.
