AERODROME SAFETY
NEW HEIGHT RESTRICTION As a result of an agreement between | the registered owners and lessees in the I vicinity of the New Plymouth aerodrome , and the Minister of Public Works it has i fceen arranged that the height of trees I and buildings on such lands shall be limited. These restrictions are expected to give the aerodrome additional safety. The matter is dealt with under the Public Works Amendment Act, 1935, and a Gazette notice prohibits the erection, j placing or extcnsion. without the consent | of the Minister of Public Works of any i building, pole, mast or other structure j of any kind on the land, which is described in a schedule to the notice, beyond a plane commencing at a height j of five feet at the boundary of the aerodrome, and increased by one twentieth part of the distance measured horizontally between the boundary of the aerodrome and the portion of the land upon which any building is proposed to be erccted. A similar prohibition is imposed, also by agreement. in respect of the height to which trees may be gro.vn on the property. A simiiar agreement has been reached. in respect of the height of growin? trees. on landing adjoining the Whenuapai aerodrome in the North Auckland district.
