Benefited by his race on the first day the third ' and fourth favourite, Small i Boy, won the Grey Lynn Hurdles in . good style from King Musk, who also j improved and paid a nice price for a i place. The Trimmer led until seven \ furlongs from home. when Black Musk | went on in front from Hesketoon and j Small Boy. Rounding the turn Small I Boy ran up on the outside of Black . Musk and Hessketoon, while King Musk ' and Knight of Australia also became i prominent. Small Boy led over the two I fences in the straight and won by two 'and a-half lengths from King Musk. | Knight of Australia stayed best of the j others to be a head away third and Racewhip, finishing on, . was a close fourth ahead of Hessketoon, Black Musk and Agog. Hessketoon and Black | Musk tired at the end after racing disappointingly for a period. | Glen Conncll's First Success. , Glen Connell scored his first succers I when he won the Maiden Plate at good | odds. Venture, Rajanya and Glen Con- ! nell were smartest to begiri, Glen Con- ! neell going on in the lead to come into the straight clear of Venture and Foxola, who were several lengths ahead of Village Green and Airport. Glen Connell more than held his own in the run to the post and won by two lengths from Venture, who defeated Foxola by thfeequarters of a length. Airport, who broke through the barrier and lost his rider before the start, was fourth after failing to jump out cleanly. Then followed Pleuron, Lady Fay and Kaalooa. The first three beat. the others easily and Glen Connell always looked the winner. Cambria's Big Surprise. Jumping out smartly from No. 1, Cambria brought off a big surprise in winning the Nursery Handicap, for which Minko and Funny Fox were the favourites. Cambria, Declaim and Silver Clarion were quickest to begin, Cambria and Panoni leading into the straight from' Declaim, Funny Fox and Silver Clarion. Cambria held on gamely in the run home and won by a head from Panoni, who defeated Funny Fox by a length. Minko, running on, was fourth, followed by Bright Lady, Route March and Nuna. Cambria is a nice colt and looks susceptible to a good deal of improvement; Minko failed to jump out cleanly, but Funny Fox had every chance. The third fancy, Transmitter, was never prominent. Royevrus Home Solidly. The Cambridge trainer, W. Townsend, supplied first and second in the Plumpton Handicap with Royevrus, whom he owns himself, and. Our Jean. Crossing the top Sly Fox drew out, and he came' into the straight two lengths clear of Flying Acre. Royevrus, Gamos and Floodtide. Near the distance Royevrus assumed command. He won by half a length from Our Jean, who came with a strong late run to beat Sly Fox by a neck. Flood Tide was fourth, followed by Flying Acre, Kena and Eastern Heir. Our Jean was a long way back in the early stages, and it was not until well into the straight that she came into the picture. 1

Rich Blood, Beau Leon and Happicoat were the first to show out, Rich Blood leading along the back from Marshall Hall, who ran through on the. inside, Beau Leon, Grandora, Phaleron, Sir Cameron and Lou Rosa. Phaleron, Grandora, Sir Cameron and Lou Rosa. | Beau Leon headed the leaders at the dis- ; tancc, where Lou Rosa, outside, and Sir Cameron were making efforts, Beau Lean began to loaf when he reached the front, and although he shifted slightly when his rider shook him up, he came away to win by a length and a-half from Lou Rosa, who beat Sir Cameron by a neck. Marshall Hall was fourth, followed by Grandora,. Happicoat, Phaleron and Rich Blood. Beau Leon won like a good colt. Lou Rosa ran his best race for some time and is improving with racing. Sir Cameron made a flne showing after being badly checked and! might havv made it interesting with a good run. Marshall Hall did not jump out cleanly, and after showing early brilliance just failed to see it out.

Several others also ! failed to get away well. and among them j were Greek Queen. Chain Acre and I Fairfield. Calula Boy began smartly from No. 1 and was soon joined by Onetea, with Gold Money Song, Estro and Money Spinner handy. Nearing the turn Gold Money Song drew clear, but he ran wide round the turn and when they straightened up Calula Boy, on the rails, was up with him ahead of Onetea, Sieglinde, Estro and Hunto.
