FOR SPITFIRE FUND

BOWLERS' ENTERPRISE Because of the enterprise of the West End Bowling Club on Saturday, the Taranaki Spitfire fund will benefit by about £18. A one-day tournament attracted 26 teams and, there being no prizes and no expenses, £15 was raised. An evening gathering resulted in the collection of another £3. Stratford, Waitara, Okato, Inglewood and Lepperton and all the New Plymouth clubs entered teams for the tournament. There were too many to accommodate at West End but the Fitzroy Club voluntarily came to the rescue and some of. the games were played there. The winning team was skipped by K. Lippiatt (West End) who had with him J. Spalding, A. E. Moss and H. Inch. Fifteen tables were occupied at the club's flag five-hundred evening in the club pavilion. Play was supervised by Messrs. K. N. Lippiatt. J. Christoffel and R. Boulton. At the winning table were Miss Cave and Mesdames Simpson, Boswell, and Corkill. Consolation prizes were won by Mesdames F. Sole and W. J. Anstis and Messrs. F. Sole and J. White, the travelling flag prizes by Mr. D. Hull and special pwzes by Miss Black and Mrs. Corkill and Messrs. D. Hull and Mason.
