A euchre party to raise funds for the Plunket Society was held at Oakura. Prizewinners were Mrs. D. Harvey and Miss Nola Jury, and Mr. Nuemann and Mr. G. H. Bell. Mr. A. Drake was in charge of the tables. Several members of the Okato branch were present. Supper was given by members of the Oakura Women's Division. The Oakura badminton singles championships were played recently. The women's singles competition for the Jury Cup was won by Miss Marjorie Goodwin. Mr. Duncan Kitchen won the men's singles for the second year in succession. Results of match play were: — First round: Mrs. W. Toomey beat Miss N. Bell 15-0. 15—6, Mrs. J. Jans forfeited to Miss M. Goodwin, Miss J. Nelson lost to Miss J. Marshall, 7—15, 15—10, 2—15; Mrs. D. Harvey won by default from Miss V. Price. Second round: Mrs. D. Harvey beat Miss J. Marshall 15—1, 15—9. Mrs. Toomey lost to Miss M. Goodwin 15—14, 12—15, 18—20. Final: Miss Goodwin beat Miss Harvey 15_2. 4—15. 12—15. Men's play resulted:— First. round: D. Kitchen beat D. Harvey 21—13, 12—18. R. Bell lost to R. Hoskin 11—21. 10—21, B. Price forfeited to L. Goodwin. R. ^rice n bye. Second round: II. Iloskin lost to D. Kitchin 2^-18. 16-21. 15—21; L. Goodi win beat R. Price 21 — 12. 21 — 15. Final: D. Kitchen beat L. Goodwin 21 — 10. 21—19 Personal. Mrs. W. Wheeler, Inglewood, is spending a holiday with her rnother, Mrs. F. Jury. Mrs. E. Hoskin and Miss Nola Jury, who were recently guests of their rnother, Mrs. F. Jury, have returned to Morrinsville.
