REGENT THEATRE, ELTHAM.
LAUREL AND HARDY FINALLY. As an antidote to offset the jitters of a war-torn world Hollywood is making comedies, and then more comedies. And as luck would have it, Laurel and Hardy are not only Johnny-on-the-spot with the first big laugh production to be completed since tfie wars outbreak, but they come to the public with a jestladen film in which the boys are seen as members of the French Foreign Legion. "The Flying Deuces" will be finally showing to-nlght at the Regent Theatre, Eltham, and concerns a couple of American tourists at Paris. One is hopelessly in love with an innkeeper's daughter. His suit spurned, he and his companion turn to the French Foreign Legion for solace. In Morocco they get into all kinds of troubie, eventually foiling a sentence of death by escaping in an endurance aeroplane. As can be imagined t.here is no end to the opportunities for amusing situations. Laurel and Hardy take full advantage of these, and cap the picture with a laugh sequencc that is best left unrevealed. Jean Parker and Reginald Gardiner also feature in "The Flying Deuces." Those who love horses will thrill at the sight of the magnificent stallion, who plays the title role in "Konga, the Wild Stallion." the associate film on to-night's programme. Fred Stone and Rochelle Hudson are featured in this exciting story of range war, romance and horses.
