"VIGIL IN THE NIGHT" AGAIN.

NURSING FILM AT THE PLAZA. "Vigil in the Night," A. J. Cronin's powerful human document of the courage and devotion demanded of the girls who choose nursing for a career, has been brought to the screen by RKO Radio with Carole Lombard, Brian Aherne and Anne Shirley in the stellar roles. The film will be shown again at the Plaza Theatre, Stratford, to-night. Carole Lombard and Anne Shirley play sisters of contrasting characters and temperaments. Carole glories in her consecration of self to the service ■ of others; she thrives on working hard to cheat death of a victim. But Anne bitterly resents having accepted her sister's judgment that nursing is a noble profession. To her it is drudj^ry— slavery! This clash of ideals results in a swift sequence of dramatic events befalling both sisters, with Carole making a valiant fight to better conditions for both patients and nurses in the poorly equipped hospital where she was glad to be taken on the staff after her dismissal for a tragic blunder really committed by her sister. There are other occasions when the stronger sister rescues the weaker from tight spots, and there is also a charming romance between Carole and Brian Aherne as a serious young surgeon ready to fight to the last dltch for justice.
