REGENT THEATRE, ELTHAM.
L UREL AND HARDY COMEDY. Laurel and Hardy again provide good down to earth slapstick on the screen in their latest picture, "The Flying Deuces," which will commence to-night at the Regent Theatre, Eltham. This laughprovoking comedy proves to be one of the best of their long career. There is little reliance on gags. Instead the comedians have resorted to that excellent brand of pantomime which distinguished them during their earlier years. It might be suggested here that those who see the picture pay particular attention to the musical score. Music has been used to excellent advantage to augment the comedy situations, and has more than substituted for the gags that are so commonly relicd on in such pieces. The story concerns a couple of tourists at Paris, who, through unrequited love for a girl, join the French Foreign Legion to forget her. In Morocco they get into all sorts of trouble. eventually foiling a sentence of death by escaping in an endurance aeroplane. As can be imagined there is no end to the op'portunities for amusing situations. Laurel and Hardy take full advantage of these, and the picture with a laugh sequence that is best left unrevealed. Jean Parker and Reginald Gardiner also feature in "The Flying Deuces." The associate feature to-night is "Konga, the Wild Stallion," a thrilling outdoor drama,. with Fred Stone and Rochelle Hudson in the leading roles.
