A FORMIDABLE TEAM
H. Gray's recent addition to his team at Takanini, Cillas, is undertaking his work in an encouraging manner, states the Auckland Star. The colt's form last season was very good, for he ran into a place in several classic events and that jeopardised his chances to a great extent in subsequent outings in handicap races. On those occasions his classic form eamed for him prohibitive imposts, but he nevertheless did well and he may materialise during the spring campaign. • During the last few weeks H. Gray has had several additions to his team and on Wednesclry Mr. J. C. Edmunds' bay colt by Defoe was added to his stable. A full brother to Anita Foe, the youngster is in first-class order for a preparation, but owinq to his size critics are doubtful whether he will be seen to advantage until late in his two-year-old career. Noitaro, a speedy mare who has previously shown good form, is now being prepared by Gray, who has also received a four-year-old gelding by Vaals, while Ascot Bloom and Dinky Di have again I joined the stable. In addition to the above-mentioned horses Gray is working four two-year-olds, Minko (Ringmaster— Severe), Kawariki (Vermeer— Good Idea), Opuatia (Foxbridge— Teremai) and Eagle Hawk (Bronze Eagle— Lady Billie), the firstnamed pair having received a speciai preparation for early two-year-old races. Verulam, Silver Quex, Namara and The Dozer make 14, the complement of the stable, and when all have acquired racing condition they should prove a very formidable team.
