PROSPECTS OF SLY FOX
Though Sly Fox was not in a place in the ■ Higgie Handicap at Awapuni on Saturday, he lost few of his admirers for the Avondale Cup. He had to be hard ridden to attempt to secure a position racing out of the straight and was unlucky to be on the outside of two horses most of the way. He appeared to meet with trouble just after entering the straight and by the time Mudford had him clear pursuit was hopeless. As 'the race is likely to have worked an imprpvement in him, Sly Fox is likely to command a big following with 8.2 in the Avondale Cup.
