Wellington cricket match was continued to-day under the most favourable conditions. With three wickets for 185 the visitors carried their first innings total to 323. Foley was unbeaten with 117 to his credit, whilst Dempster (70) and James (42) did the best of the others. Gilbertson, with five wickets for 102, and Mitchell, with three for 121, divided the wickets. Hawke’s Bay opened strongly and at the close of the day had lost four wickets for 274, Lowry giving a fine display, after an Uncertain opening, for 141. Bents, with 49, and Shepherd, with 46, also shaped well. MATCH AGAINST MANAWATU. HAWKE'S BAY SCORE VV EI.L. Napier, April 7. Hawke’s Bay commenced a match today against Manawatu and spent most of' the day at the wickets, compiling 344 Elliott’s display in making 117 was outstanding, whilst he was ably assisted by Bradburn (53), Spackman (36) and Cane (35). . , , , Cameron, with four wickets for oZ, Young, with three for 14, and Gallichan, with two for 94, divided the wickets.
